Dafnis Prieto Artist Ensemble

Constant motion and drive, teeming with interactive spirit and musical force. Artistic director Dafnis Prieto presents his award-winning artist ensemble comprised of some of the Frost School of Music's finest musicians, designed in the image of his own groundbreaking sextet. The group performs all original material, including Dafnis’s music along with compositions and arrangements by the band members. The band places an emphasis on melodic integrity and complex rhythmic conceptions, underscored by jazz improvisation. We pride ourselves on collaboration, comradery and the reciprocal dynamic of our collective; musicians with disparate backgrounds, banded together in a eclectic musical community. The band has performed at Gusman Hall, twice at WDNA radio as part of the UM Frost Jazz Hour, also at Open Stage, Le Chat Noir, and just finished recording their first album, to be released on 2017.
